Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Pittsburgh with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Pennsylvania may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
The business lists hours on 1 day of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 AMβ7 PM. Note that it does not open on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (412) 475-8495. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, squirrelhillmarket.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 181 reviews, which is a strong result for a specialty food store in Pittsburgh and suggests consistent service.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Three wordsβ¦. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I was in search of a good corned beef sandwich and came out with. GREAT ONE! Simple menu, super fresh ingredients, awesome service. I will DEFINITELY be back! I got the corned beef/pastrami combo with spicy brown mustard. Needless to say when you see the picture but thereβs enough meat on the sandwich for 2-3 sandwiches! And they give you a WHOLE dill pickle! The picture posted is only half of the sandwich! Awesome!

This place got me in trouble with my husband. I have sent him multiple messages regarding this place and told him we need to visit for lunch one day. Early this week my daughter went on a work delivery with me in Squirrel Hill, we shopped and decided to finish off the morning with lunch at the deli. We walked in and felt like we had just stepped foot into a true New York Style deli. Small and cozy, shelves lining the perimeter stocked with unique finds, one rack fully stocked with delicious looking loaves of bread. A welcoming touch of crocheted granny squares hang in the window front giving it a personal touch. My daughter and I shared a Ruben that was packed so high with meat we could have made 2-3 other sandwiches. This sandwich had quality as well as quantity, it was tender and flavorful. I do wish the thousand island dressing had a stronger presence in the sandwich, I'm not sure how'd they could make it happen because the sandwich is already so moist. So now my husband is mad that I visited without him. Looks like I'll be planning another trip back real soon. If I had one complaint it would be that the kind woman who waited on us and made our sandwich would not accept a tip.

Well, doom scrolling has brought some good to the world. I found this little place and had to have it. The lady working the counter - Iβm assuming the owner?? - was super nice and very welcoming and perfectly chatty. My Husky awaited in the car and has put in five paws of approval as well. Both the corned beef and the pastrami are exactly as they should be. Amazing. The pastrami though. I am kind of a coleslaw snob, so I decided to try it to see if there was something to complain about and NOPE!! It is perfect. Not too bold and not without flavor. We will be back.

Stopped there to pick up a quick dinner for my family. The pastrami is absolutely delicious! We also had the matzo ball soup and latkes. It was all super tasty. If you want a true corned beef or pastrami sandwich, you need to give them a try.

I'm visiting the area and drove 30 minutes out of my way to come here, and I'm SO glad I did. The service is truly excellent, the food is to die for, and it's located in a super cute neighborhood. The pastrami was incredibly tender and flavorful, the bread was excellent, and I don't think I've ever had a heavier sandwich. Highly recommend eating it in the nearby & beautiful Frick Park!
